Honolulu Among Top Economic Performers
The Honolulu area is one of the 40 strongest metro areas for economic performance during the recession, according to a report released Wednesday by theBrookings Institution. The report ranked the 100 largest U.S. metro areas based on employment, unemployment rates, wages, gross metropolitan product, housing prices and foreclosure rates in the first quarter. Honolulu ranked No. 34, while San Antonio, Texas, placed No. 1 and Detroit came in last at No. 100.
