Hawaii & Honolulu Unemployment Rates
Hawaii’s state wide unemployment has been on the rise recently as well as Honolulu County.
For the state as a whole the unemployment rate rose to 6.5%.
Hawai’i’s 6.5 percent rate tied with Texas for the 15th lowest rate in the country. Hawaii’s jobless rate is still below the national figure, which rose to 8.1 percent in February, up from 7.6 percent in January. California’s rate was 10.5 percent. El Centro, Calif., continued to have the highest unemployment rate at 24.5 percent.
If we break the unemployment down by county, you get:
Honolulu – 5.4%
Molokai – 12.9%
Maui – 7.8%
Kauai - 9.1%
Big Island - 9.1%
